Oh, hell no.

While my answer wasn't as rough as that, I immediately refused her offer.

Maybe because I'm a Marketing major, I have more of a tendency than normal people to make everything an "experience," but reading really is one to me. If it takes up time, it's an experience. Besides the obvious storytime feature, I enjoy manually flipping the physical pages. Just listening to the faint crinkles of each page turn and then smoothing the page down with a soft brush of the hand as the book spine is gently plopped in your lap, an electronic device cannot possibly take that away from me.

Reading a book is not a chore. There is no need for technology to make it "easier" for me.

I understand that e-readers these days are about the convenience of carrying 10+ books in the palm of your hand at one time rather than the bulky equivalent, but I normally don't need to have 10+ books at my disposal when I'm sitting on the subway anyway.

I really hope books don't meet the same demise as the music industry did, although I'm doubting the power of the number of regular (human) readers in the world at the moment for whom a $100+ e-reader would be worth buying. Ah, another sign of technology's effect on the world.

Will ‘Harry Potter’ & ‘Transformers’ Stop Wall Street’s Anti-3D Stampede? – Deadline.com

I'm pretty sure the people going to see Harry Potter are not seeing it because it's in 3D. Same with Transformers. I don't see the point in 3D in a lot of movies these days (The Great Gatsby? Are you shitting me?), and I know of no one who goes to see a movie for the sole reason that it's 3D. In fact, the few friends of mine who went to see Thor, purposely went to the non-3D showing because it really doesn't matter.

I can't believe filmmakers could possibly think that such an oversaturated medium for viewing will overpower a moviegoer's decision for a certain movie. We still care about plots.

I believe that 3D only works if it contributes to the storytelling. Movies with a lot of fighting and effects to begin with are kind of made bigger with the 3D effects of monsters flying at you. Even horror's not a bad genre for 3D because it would contribute to the scare factor of random things popping out at you when you least expect it.

Every damn story happening in front of our eyes through dorky 3D glasses? The movie screen is already big enough that it seems that way. I saw Megamind 3D in theaters, and I sure as hell don't remember the 3D part of it as much as I did the story. Whereas I remember my first 3D experience in theaters watching Spy Kids 3D, with the little orbs and stuff flying at you, making you feel like you're really in their little digital world, which you kind of were.

When I hear that a movie's going to be in 3D, my first instinct is to lose interest because to me, making a movie 3D equates to making up for a not interesting enough story.

I've thought about this sort of midlife crisis many times, not that I'm old enough to go through with one, but I'm still young, and I still have time to pave the path to what I want to do. Because I'm not confident enough in my networking abilities to achieve a position in the television industry, and I don't know if I'll be happy working in business the rest of my life, sometimes I feel like I'll end up leaving everything and everyone behind one day, and pack it all up to live in a brand new country where I know no one.

This novel (?) is totally speaking to me at the moment, dropping gems of wisdom with every page. Especially the paragraph explaining people's claims of not caring what other people think. It's genius, and I feel like it's speaking to me.

It sounds corny, but I've really not felt this way while reading a book, not that I can remember.

While it's true we don't know that we're young, the reason we think we're older than we are is because we have ideas and experiences from where our own forms of wisdom stem too.

I hope this didn't come off as one of those "I'm young, fuck the adults, I know what I'm doing" declarations because that is certainly not what I intended. Just playing devil's advocate as usual with everything.

Oh my god, I love love LOVE this idea, Dan Harmon. For the months and months I read up on new developing pilots and casting, I start to get really excited for almost all of them, even while knowing of most of their eventual demise.

But I guess the good thing about network execs is that they filter out what actually isn't very good and don't let it air because I ache from bad television. TV and movies are different in their own way, and while I can never be the person to turn to about movies, I feel good about the TV I watch.

But what's almost killing TV these days, besides the obvious technology factor, is the fact that fewer good shows are coming out each year. No one's watching them. Maybe if we chose what we wanted to watch, we would watch. You wouldn't be able to make much of a reality TV show out of it, but any interactive factor might make pilots and upfronts a lot more valuable. At the moment, it seems like producers are making shows to please executives, when it's the fans who decide if they're watching or not. But I guess Arrested Development continues to defy all laws of good television.

Am I making any sense anymore? I don't think I am.

PS. This excerpt is taken from a series of interviews of showrunners in NY Mag that I'm reading, and it is just making me appreciate TV even more and miss NY so much because I want this goddamn issue! Also, really need to see Cheers now because every showrunner I love praises the show to pieces.

On second thought, 11 seasons? I think this will have to wait until I'm an old housewife with nothing better to do in the afternoons but marathon television. Can't wait.

Yabba Dabba Doo Time

I remember when I was younger, I had this huge book full of cartoon stories: The Jetsons, Tom & Jerry, and of course, The Flinstones. I loved it so, and now I don't seem to know where it is anymore. I feel like it must have gotten lost in the move during my freshman year of high school.

I never really watched the series on TV, partly because my family only had local channels, and The Flinstones didn't air on local channels... at least not that I knew of. But I was aware of the theme song because it was such a classic. I have it going through my head right now.

But just because it's a classic doesn't mean it would make an absolute awesome remake, Fox. Barney's wrong this time, new is not always better.

Just another sign that Hollywood/entertainment is just in it for the money now. People seem to rarely want to take a risk on something original these days and it's making me sad.

Fox just needs to make sure they keep the same exact theme song, and not have like Avril Lavigne cover it to make it more "modern." Boo.

Also, why does Fox have this weird obsession with animated shows in primetime? I actually can't imagine Flinstones in primetime because it's kind of a child's show. I guess if it aired on Friday nights it might be fine, if they're targeting the children, which I really don't think they are, or should. Fox already is number one in attracting the prime age group. They don't really need to skew any younger than they already do.

And if they're going for the nostalgic audience, I don't know how willing they'll be to loyally tune in every week to a cartoon. I'm talking about the parents, not their college-aged children, who sure aren't loyally tuning in either.

I don't know, Fox bringing back The Flinstones is just odd. I'd feel less doubtful about it if Nickelodeon pulled this.

I just watched Morning Glory, the first movie in my summer viewing series. While I had been looking forward to watching it when trailers came out last year, the mediocre reviews deterred me away from watching it in theaters.

After watching it just now though, I have to say, I really enjoyed it! It's not the best movie in the world, and I don't think I'd jump at the chance to watch it again, but it was very sweet, and Rachel McAdams is always such a delight to watch on screen.

Part of it could be because I really like anything revolving around the world of television (That reminds me, I need to rewatch Little Black Book, hehe), but all in all, it felt very... "Empowering"'s not the word I'm looking for, but it was inspiring to an unexplainable extent. It wasn't an "I can do anything now!" thing, but I don't know, I feel happy.

And no, it's not because I don't have to work with a jerkface like Mike Pomeroy.

I'm sad that 30 Rock got pushed to midseason, but if anything, I think it's about time for it end anyway. :( Still watching it because the way it makes fun of itself and NBC so shamelessly is unseen in any other show (except for Arrested Development :( RIP).

I was pretty confident about Up All Night's pick up. Its sneak peeks I watched though were kind of meh, so I'm not sure how long it'll last. As for the rest of the shows, I'm actually a bit surprised at Free Agents's pick up because the concept seemed nothing special, until I watched some sneak peek clips on Hulu, and now it actually looks quite promising. Wednesday nights, I look forward to you.

I'm kind of excited about The Playboy Club too. The period drama genre is very enticing nowadays.

The buzzword here is multiplatform production, or MPP as it's abbreviated, like everything in business is (The need for efficiency is even prevalent in speech patterns.).

The article basically discusses how in today's increasingly transforming digital age, TV can't just be limited to TV anymore, but flexible enough to be consumed on several different channels as well. The guidelines listed above very well incorporate the different types of media that TV consumption is involved in today.

And yes I did just put the adverb "very well" awkwardly in front of the verb because I am very involved in my current Russian language studies.

But if anything, I can't stop talking about how I'm so excited about and so so interested in all the changes in the television industry. It's all just so dynamic and exciting. How I would love love loveee to work in TV.

Today in Marketing we watched commercials and discussed their effectiveness.

The two things I love mindlessly watching online in my free time: commercials and movie trailers, since I don't have the attention span for anything longer.

Needless to say, I had a lot of fun in class. Here are some of my favorites that made me smile today:

Today at 7pm EST, Death Cab livestreamed a one-shot shooting for the official music video of their newest single "You Are A Tourist," and while I was about 10 minutes late to the party, I still got to see the video and just completely appreciate the connectivity of the Internet. Although I didn't get to see it live, I just know that watching it live would've been so amazing to see something as intricate as this music video unfold before your eyes in one take in real time. The song is a really good song as well, as expected of Death Cab. Watch the video here! (Skip to about 15:00 or so for the actual music video.)

I love that even the music industry is embracing technology as much as everyone is. The music industry may be in a ditch right now, but music will forever live.

Cute that Nokia's still trying to be relevant. I still remember my dad getting his first small cell phone, which was a Nokia, after the size-down from those big hunky ones, and I would steal it whenever I could to play Snake. That was what high-tech was back in those days. I also remember not being able to wait for the day when I would have my own cell phone, so I could play Snake whenever I could.

Now I can't wait to go to Korea, so I can finally get a Samsung Galaxy S and have an Android-operated smartphone. And then I can't wait til I get back to America again in 2012, so I can actually make it useful with my Internet data plan there.

Anyway, it's about time Nokia ditched Symbian. And I'm super excited about NFC for the near future. We always seem to be some steps behind Japan, who's been using NFC-equipped phones for a while now. I'm still a bit worried about security issues surrounding the credit card that'll be used, and the fact that if I lose my phone I'll have to cancel my credit card as well with it.

Ah, technological convergence. Next up'll be phone scanners to replace my keys (resulting in the decline/utility of key chains :().

When people make cultural references, ironically, I don't get a lot of them because everything's so overtalked that I don't have the diligence to read A Streetcar Named Desire, or Our Town, or The Crucible, or watch The Godfather, or Fight Club, or Pulp Fiction.

And when I use the word "ironic," I'm using it the correct way, not the way that "ironic" actions are used to describe "hipsters" or whatever.

As a Marketing student, I'm probably one of the fields of business that is most affected by change, and I couldn't agree more with this statement.

I think this is currently one of the most fun times to be working in business because technology has almost become the equivalence to efficiency, and you never know what Apple or Google will come out with next. Just today, my Chrome browser prompted me if I'd like to sync my Chrome to my Gmail, allowing me to access all my bookmarks, etc. from any computer just with the sign-in of my email. And I downloaded Google Cloud Connect a couple of weeks ago and am so happy with it.

The Cloud is becoming a bigger reality. It's so exciting, yet oh-so scary. What will we be able to do next?

To act to art

I'm currently reading Grotowski (I will finish this by tomorrow, regardless of the fact I just started.) and a certain quote struck familiarity within me:

"The actor is a man who works in public with his body, offering it publicly... If it is exploited for money and to win the favour of the audience, then the art of acting borders on prostitution."

Instantly, I was reminded of Megan Fox's infamous "actors are like prostitutes" quote from the July 2009 issue of GQ.

"On comparing actors to prostitutes: 'When you think about it, we actors are kind of prostitutes. We get paid to feign attraction and love. Other people are paying to watch us kissing someone, touching someone, doing things people in a normal monogamous relationship would never do with anyone who’s not their partner. It’s really kind of gross.'"

When Megan made this declaration, many were shocked and just added it to the 'proof that she was an idiot.' I actually kind of agreed with her though, especially in regards to Hollywood. Though harsh, it could easily be analagous to brothel.

In reference to the Grotowski quote, the equalization of acting with prostitution isn't a generalization, but acting in its crudest, wrongest form. I respect stage actors more than film/TV actors because they view their jobs as an art, whereas film/TV seems to be solely for entertainment, making the screen actors somewhat prostitutes, but I guess when I think about it, film/TV is a different kind of art. Maybe not everyone in the business thinks of it that way, but there are those who take their jobs seriously and don't become prostitutes of the business.

This is, in no means, meant as a jab to anyone at all in the acting biz.
Instead, this is to show appreciation to those like Christian Bale, who will completely incorporate his role into his lifestyle and live his role in order to properly understand it,
or Natalie Portman, who spent 3 years training for her role in Black Swan,
or Melissa Leo, whose portrayal of the mother in The Fighter was so passionate and so real,
or Colin Firth, who just does a fantastic job in capturing every little nuance of his character and expressing all scrambles of emotion in every little action.

Congratulations to all the nominees, and winners, of the Academy Awards last night because you all deserved the recognition. (insert tacky smiley face here)

I just updated this earlier on my NBC Fall 2011 Pilots page that Ryan Hansen's been cast as the lead in upcoming NBC pilot Lovelives, which is described as an "adult comedy." (I'm fine with that.) Kind of randomly excited for it now just because of him.

I've been watching this cutie on Party Down for a while now (3 more episodes to go!) and I just found out he was on Veronica Mars (which I still have yet to marathon ughhh), making the fact that Kristen Bell was on Party Down even cooler now.

Yeah, so this was a totally shallow post.

Not my type of movie, just the eclectic cast caught my eye.

Deadline said it looks different and it sure does. There seems to be a little more action to the drama that is apparent in the film. And Rainn Wilson in such a serious dramatic role is interesting.

I kind of wonder why Joseph Gordon-Levitt wasn't cast in roles like this from the start because his droopy eyes really match this type of character. Not that I want him to only play these roles; it's just that he's got such the right look. Still a cutie though.

Natalie Portman continues to make me wonder if she got any sleep last year making all these movies. Isn't this like movie #10 she's in this year?

Houdini + Sir Arthur Conan Doyle show in the works

Totally just learned that renowned magician Harry Houdini and renowned Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle were real life friends back in the day. That is pretty awesome. Doesn't that just make you think that they would kick ass at solving mysteries together?

Houdini + Doyle is going to make an awesome buddy detective team. That's right, according to Deadline, Dreamworks has acquired the script Voices from the Dead, written by J. Michael Straczynski:

Based on the real-life friendship between magician Harry Houdini and mystery author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, it is a fictional account of how they teamed up with a psychic to solve bizarre murders in 1920s New York.

At the moment, Syfy is actually also in negotiations to pick up another show, Among the Spirits, with the same concept, which would make this the first time that I might tune into Syfy.

Kind of crazy that there are two separate projects revolving around the same original theme. The concept is super awesome, and it would be such a shame if it was butchered. I'm pretty excited though.

CBS's new EcoAd approach to green advertising

In a time where TV is having a harder time than ever in attracting advertisers amidst the migration towards Internet-viewing, CBS still emerges as the smartest of the bunch. While EcoAds aren't solely for television ads, TV still remains the number one medium to reach the largest amount of people, so advertisers will continue to buy TV ad packages for the time being.

I'm really impressed with this approach, especially for television advertising. The networks have been pulling their hairs out trying to come up with the next big breakout show in order to bring up ratings and reel in advertisers, but the millions of dollars put into pilots this past fall season have gone down the drain with many swift cancellations. Rather than merely assuring advertisers that its shows will bring in ratings, CBS is now using its ad packages to attract clients. With the new EcoAd, advertisers have more of a reason to invest ad money into CBS, regardless of the show (it doesn't hurt that CBS is the highest rated network anyway), because their money will also go into a green initiative, a trend that every company has been trying to hop on these days.

CBS seems to always be on top of the game.

I'm not gonna lie. I am probably going to watch this. This will go alongside the Darren Criss debut episode as one of the only two episodes so far that I chose to watch this season.

But seriously, Glee has turned into a publicity show. I feel that the plot, whatever it is now, is just there so that the themes of each episode can have a backbone. What I'm trying to say is, the songs aren't there to support the stories; the stories are there to support the songs.

I'll admit I did watch some other episodes of this season with my roommate (because I was bored and she was watching them at the time) and I noticed the pattern of everyone getting together to sing a song at the end out of the blue to sum up their feelings of the episode. Having the song at the end makes each episode seem so formulaic in the way that the song at the end of the episode is just there to conclude the episode.

Glee is supposed to have a plot, but most people probably watch it just to see what songs they're going to sing that episode, as opposed to what's going to happen to move forward the plot. Oh, and all the excessive guest stars this season made it seem more like SNL instead of a real TV show with a storyline. They probably can't prop the songs against the plot anymore though, since the story has just gotten so ridiculous (Why in hell has every single member gotten together? A little club-incestuous much?) that it can't stand on its own anymore.

The new red band trailer for the other "sex friend" (as they refer to it) movie No Strings Attached, the one with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman, definitely trumps Friends With Benefits, the one with Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. I had no interest in NSA at all before because the trailer made it seem like another corny friendship-turned-relationship movie, but this new trailer definitely stepped it up a LOT. Granted it's not going to be the next Hangover (god no), but it actually looks kind of funny now that I might rent it via Redbox in the future.
Whoa, just noticed it's both of the Black Swan ladies. I was going to say that NSA has a possibility of riding the coattails of Black Swan for a bit, but Mila was in Black Swan too. Whatever, the two movies' concepts are so similar with similarly-meaning titles that by the time FWB comes out, people will think they've already seen it.
YES. I typed "Friends With Benefits" into IMDB and "No Strings Attached" came up as the first result. Even IMDB recognizes that they're practically the same movie.
I feel like the release of two fuck buddy movies in the same year kind of illustrates how people are having trouble having proper relationships these days. I recall reading a study on how a hefty percentage of teenagers, and even of those in their 20's, don't know how to do more than a hook-up and go on a proper date anymore. Gone are the days of the cute romantic comedies of entering a new troublesome job and the handsome co-worker ready to sweep you off your feet.

I was watching Criminal Minds the other day, and I love how they always narrate a relevant quote during the episode. I'm so sensitive to nice quotes, so they always get to me. I love this show.

Criminal Minds also gives me my weekly psychology fill because as much as I want to learn psychology, I can never push myself to sit down and take a psych class, since I want to learn it to learn it, not to take exams and write papers on it.

I also would love to learn more history and philosophy, but classrooms sometimes just kill my interest of the subjects when they force you to take tests and mindlessly memorize pages of information. Can't I just learn for the sake of learning?

The only class I plan on taking in my college career in regards to my "cultured fancies" is a class on James Joyce's literature, particularly Ulysses. Literature is the one thing I have to take a class on because I can never understand what's going on in literature without a trained eye to guide me through it. I'm so grateful for the existence of Pass/Fail because that's the only way I could possibly enjoy the class. I can't wait.

Well I'm gonna stray off my usual topics of discussion and touch on the new NYU Stern curriculum that will go into effect for the incoming class of 2015.

There weren't huge changes, but one thing stood out for me:

As much as I hated FFM (Foundations of Financial Markets), I still think learning the foundations of each aspect of business is very useful if one wants to enter business because in the end, everything starts to overlap. I know I'm not ever going to consider dabbling in a career in Finance, but some of the basics I learned in the class showed up in my Film Distribution class. I also read a lot of news about the entertainment business in general, and the current MGM situation especially talks a lot of finance, which I wouldn't have understood without having taken this class.

I know this doesn't apply to me, so I'll still have to take MOA and Operations (boooo), but I feel like one of the reasons Stern is recognized is because of their well-rounded business core.

I guess if I had a choice though, I would love more elective space in place of FFM, but I feel like if I'm paying so much money to go to such a good business school, I should receive the education I paid for.

But I guess I would be getting more out of my money if I actually took classes I liked.

'The Tree of Life'

There are some really touching quotes in this thing, and even though the trailer isn't helping me figure out what it's gonna be about, you know it's gonna be one of those movies that's going to make you leave the theater crying and wondering what exactly you've being doing with your life all this time and why you haven't been living life. I mean there has been some pretty good hype around it way before, but all I ever really got out of it was that Brad Pitt and Sean Penn were attached to it and it's going to blow your mind.

I don't know if I'll be up for the challenge though, the tears, the pain, the realization of the necessary reexamination of my life. I guess I can sit still and wait to rent it, just like I'm doing for Inception, of which I am the only person who still hasn't watched the damn thing. This winter break, I promise.

Colin Firth is definitely getting a Best Actor nom for The King's Speech, but I seriously think it's about time for his win, and I really think he did an extraordinary job as the stuttering king. I also loved Helena Bonham-Carter in it, and I totally see a Best Supporting Actress nom there for her. Actually, I feel like everything in The King's Speech was just great. Omg, the score for Best Score pleaseee.

The Social Network's been sweeping awards so far, but I really don't see it as a Best Picture Oscar winner. I thought it was a really good movie, but it was kind of like a Juno, appealing, interesting, but not deep enough for the gold.

And the Golden Globes seem like a joke this year, especially when you look at all the Comedy/Musical noms. Not saying they're in anyway reliable, but huh. I guess when you think about it though, there weren't many big films with big female leads this year, so they had to resort to drawing straws or something.

Why was I unaware of the delight of this film until last night when I had a delightful time watching it for the first time?

I guess it's kind of a romantic comedy, except it's the guy's story, instead of the usual girl's. But just when you think you know what's going on, you don't.

I am aware I don't have an intellectually distinguishing taste in movies because I really like romantic comedies, but I honestly feel that this movie is underrated, or at least underexposed.

Okay, apparently it was critically acclaimed, so I'm not crazy for liking it.

All I will tell you is it's about a soon-to-be-divorced guy who tells his daughter the story of the women he's dated in the past and how they led to his mother, kind of like How I Met Your Mother except less comedy, women, and friends and more love and drama. Just like HIMYM, the narrator won't tell you who the mother is throughout the telling of the story, keeping you guessing til the end.

Do NOT read any synopses because they just might spoil it, since part of the brilliance of the film is not knowing who the mother is. Just go watch it.

Campaign for Cookie Monster to Host SNL!

I remember the Betty White Facebook campaign for her to host SNL, but I didn't hop on the bandwagon because to be honest, I have no opinion of Betty White. Her episode of SNL was indeed one of the better ones of the season though.

Maybe it was because most people grew up watching Betty White on Golden Girls, while I wasn't even born yet for the majority of the show's broadcast run. Well, I grew up watching this blue furry guy on Sesame Street instead, and most everyone probably did too, so I feel this campaign is worth supporting by everyone!

C'mon, don't tell me you're not at least somewhat swayed by the absolutely entertaining audition video.

Just the fact that he made an audition video is so entertaining. You can't help but love the guy.

The only downside about this is actually watching the show at the studio live because the illusion of Cookie Monster might be destroyed if you can see his human controller, but I'm sure SNL will be able to find a way around it because Elmo has shown up on Jimmy Fallon and the like.

The Facebook page has increased by 2,000 fans already as I'm typing this, and I believe it was just created today or at least extremely recently, so go help Cookie Monster get on SNL!

Missing out

How I Met Your Mother was my favorite TV show of all time in high school, 2 years ago, and it had a mighty fan following among the 18-34 crowd that CBS yearns to obtain. Because of the success of the show, I guess either the network execs or writers are trying to milk this popularity as long as they can to keep the advertiser-attracting group.
However, it's just kind of milked it dry. This season is pretty disappointing because it doesn't seem to be going anywhere at all. Zoey entered the picture and is becoming a big part of the season, and while she seemed like a good candidate for the wife in the beginning, we all know she's not because she's not the roommate. So what is she doing here anyway?
I know, her existence probably leads Ted to his wife eventually, but all the episodes so far this season have just seemed like fillers. Nothing seemed to be leading the story forward at all. I understand that comedies don't really have a set plot or a goal to achieve in the end, but what makes HIMYM unique is that it actually does.
The show is going to start to lose its fans if it doesn't move forward any time soon. Any new viewers who tune in this season for the first time are probably confused as to why the episodes don't seem to have anything to do with the real premise of the show. As much as I love the show and might not want it to end, it's going to have to end some time for me to feel that it was worthy.

A $500 remote control

The reason I want an iPad now.

It's an app from Comcast called XFinity TV that connects to your Comcast box, allows you to sift through your TV guide and showtimes with the ease of touch access, and best of all, changes the channel for you. It's basically a super remote control with TV guide ability. It even allows you to bookmark your favorite channels, so you can easily access them later.

I feel like if this catches on, old-fashioned television viewing can come back for a bit because finding what to watch on TV will be so much easier, and a lot more fun if done via an iPad.

This is such a lifesaver because one of the biggest pains of watching TV was having to go through the TV guide on the TV screen via the remote control because it took forever for the TV to register my button-pressing, since I skim quickly. Uhhh, NBC just released its new 2010-2011 midseason primetime schedule, and there's been some extreme shuffling. I'm not a drama fan in general, so I'm not quite sure how the dramas were scheduled before, but I understand that many shows have moved days. Way to confuse any dedicated fans you have left. I'm still confused at the changes CBS went through this season when CSI:NY, CSI:Miami, and The Big Bang Theory all moved days. Even though CBS maintained its ratings despite the changes because the mighty network of the eye always seems to be able to do so, I myself have been unable to properly watch the CSI's now because I've always left open my Monday and Wednesday nights for my crime shows. I'm not watching TV on Friday and Sunday nights.

But that's another story. I'm here to concentrate on the comedy night change. I may not stand by the timeslots when watching because I'm always busy Thursday nights, but I feel that Outsourced is going to lose ratings from being put at the very end of the block because I've heard very mixed reviews for the show (I watched the first episode and didn't like it either), so I don't know how loyal people will be to watch it at 10:30pm. Normally, networks don't really want their new shows to die off so quickly, so I just find it kind of risky to push such a show all the way to 10:30pm. It's also being pit against CBS's The Mentalist along with 30 Rock. I understand the audiences for the two shows are probably completely different, but I don't see Outsourced possibly gaining ratings from the change, especially when it's such a new show, so it doesn't have an established fanbase yet.

It just feels like NBC was just willing to try any last thing, since the Comcast takeover is going to be finalized any time now. Kinda like how in poker, some people just go all in at the very end if they don't have many chips left because they're gonna lose anyway, so they might as well give it one last shot.

I'm not coherent anymore because I'm really supposed to write a research paper. But super excited about Parks & Rec's return, and will give Perfect Couples a chance because I always give NBC comedies a chance.

Probably the most memorable ad during the Conan season premiere ("COMMA, BRETT FAVRE'S PENIS") tonight because of the absolute confusion about what the hell it was talking about. The bezzerwizzer site most definitely got so many hits tonight.

Of course, curiosity led me to the site, and it's a Mattel board game. The site offers a free trial to play it, and it's actually not that bad of a game, but I'm kind of a board game nut (and trivia nut), so maybe it was just me. Wasn't anything exceptional, but I definitely wouldn't mind playing this game with friends.

I miss board game nights back home.

I stumbled upon Hunch today on Forbes's "List of names you should know in 2010," and I'm having such a blast on the site.

You connect with either your Facebook or Twitter account and answer questions about yourself to allow the site to generate personalized recommendations on everything from "Restaurants in Boston" to "Pick-Up Lines." It's kind of amazing. Don't worry about signing in with Facebook because it doesn't spam your wall or friends' news feeds with countless updates on what you've been clicking around on, a common worry among connecting your Facebook to apps (I know that that's why I hate FB apps.).

After the initial 20 questions you need to answer to enter the site, you can continue to answer more questions in order to refine your results even more. The thing is, the questions are actually fun. Instead of the generic "What is your favorite color?", you're asked stuff like "Are you more likely to spoon or be spooned?"

Forbes calls it a "marketer's dream" because all of this information can basically be used to help find correlations between certain preferences, such as one fact displayed recently on their blog that Zombieland fans find clowns unnecessary instead of scary or funny, or that fans of A Nightmare on Elm St. like the smell of Play-doh.

I showed it to my roommate earlier and she's been clicking around on it occasionally for the past few hours while attempting to study for her midterm at the same time. And she's not even really into any media sites other than Facebook and Very Demotivational.

OMG. I LOVE THIS.

I haven't been watching Glee ever since after the first half of the first season because it just got a bit too dramatic for me. I went back to it once for the Neil Patrick Harris episode because I love the guy, and now I think I'll definitely have to watch the upcoming episode for this scene alone.

I have not gotten tired of rewatching this scene. I had to wiki Darren Criss, and he was Harry in A Very Potter Musical, which I never watched. Even so, I think he does a fantastic job in this number and he genuinely looks like he's having fun.

I don't like Glee covers at all, but I am absolutely in love this one. And I really like "Teenage Dream" as well. The acapella arrangement here though is so fantastic.

Kurt is so cute ogling over the boy.

What a soothingly accurate description of the joys of a trampoline. I wish I could string words together like that.

Too bad the delivery of the lines by the gardener in the episode were too flat.

Also, I never liked Pierce, and this episode just made me dislike him even more. I don't know how they all can stay friends with him because he's not an endearing old man at all.

7/10 for some unexpectedly laugh-out-loud lines.

I was lucky to have the chance to attend a free private early screening of Due Date sponsored by Vevo and Vitaminwater this afternoon, and the event was totally worth skipping class for, especially because Neon Trees came in and did a special acoustic performance (!!) in the middle of the theater on top of the seats for us before the screening.

Due Date didn't appeal to me at all when I watched trailers and such because it just looked like the not funny kind of stupid. I totally understand why they decided to give it an early screening because word-of-mouth is definitely going to boost its ticket sales because from what I've heard around me, people aren't expecting much.

I enjoyed it, a LOT more than I thought I would. I laughed several times. It totally had the Hangover-feel to it because it just kept getting more and more ridiculous while still having a semblance of a plot. I admit, I almost teared up at a couple of parts, but the humor just knew exactly when to cut in and before I knew it, I was laughing again. It's not one of those movies I'd probably watch again though because it was good enough the first time. There were some great lines though, ("What are you, a girl or something?") and Todd Phillips does a fantastic job at directing comedy.

No spoilers because the East Coast is viewing the midnight screening as I type while the rest of the country is waiting.

Also, the Sucker Punch trailer played twice in a row during the previews, and I feel like the more I watch that trailer (which I've probably watched about 5 times already...), the more I want to watch that movie. I have terrible luck though because when I'm super stoked for a movie, it usually turns out to be a flop.

Trailer for new 2011 movie Sucker Punch, directed by Zack Snyder, who directed Watchmen. This trailer was kind of a mind-fuck because it starts off one way and ends in a completely different way. I was wholly confused, but the movie concept is definitely super original because I can't think of a story like this one at all, so that's a very interesting aspect of it. This can either be really really mind-blowingly awesome, or just one big mess, kind of like Watchmen expectations.
I don't know, I actually think I want to see it. I don't think I'd actively go out and see it on my own though, but it looks like a movie I'd enjoy more in a theater than at home, so theater-going it is for this one. I'll go if my friends want to see it.
Oh, never mind, I'll be in Prague when it comes out. Hmm.
It sucks when you want things more when you can't have them. I think I want to see this movie a teensy bit more now.
But dude, Jon Hamm is in it. I can't find him in the trailer though.Yeah, I think I want to see this movie now because if he's playing some hot fighter guy omgadfsdsg

The status as of 5:13pm Eastern time of the number of Facebook users who have voted. The number is increasing rapidly with each second.

Today is Midterm Election Day, and many people usually overlook these halfway elections just because they're not the presidential election. People, the President isn't the only person who runs this country! Otherwise, we're living in a semi-dictatorship. The Senate and the House check the President's decisions, so voting for your representatives are just as important.

On Twitter, if you voted and use the hashtag #ivoted, you can get a cute little patriotic stamp to display in your tweet. I'm aware that Foursquare has some sort of badge you can get if you vote as well. And above is what's displayed on your homepage when you log into Facebook. I'm so glad all of the social media community is getting together to promote participation in the election.

I voted, of course, and obnoxiously tweeted about it 3 times, and even got one of my tweets displayed on the NYTimes homepage for a little bit! :) Too bad I didn't get to see it.

I know this is probably getting a bit repetitive today since it's been all over the web, but it's not too late to go vote if you haven't already!!

Remembering the times we had together

I was reading about these Friendship Pages last night on Mashable (pic credits to them too), and I guess people were actually getting hit with them today. I got a text from my roommate in the afternoon stating that Facebook was making it easier to stalk people now, and I immediately knew that Friendship Pages had launched. But I'm pretty sure it's still in beta because I haven't gotten it, and so hasn't another one of my friends, but judging from people's statuses, it seems like others have been given the chance to try it out, and people are kind of freaking out about it.

Everyone's saying it's creepy, but c'mon, I'm pretty damn sure people are going to be using them anyway because people are on Facebook to stalk in the first place. The reason everyone's saying it's "creepy" is because they realize they themselves can be stalked even more easily now. As if they didn't think Facebook was already creepy enough.

My roommate showed me the Friendship Pages on her Facebook, and it's actually kind of cute. If the two of you are tagged in a photo together, that photo shows up as the "profile pic." It then displays other photos you've been tagged in together, wall-to-wall posts, and even events you've attended together. As "creepy" as it is, I think it's kind of nice for your own personal use though, to look through your own friendships with other people and see your Facebook history. When you start clicking through two other people's friendships though, THAT'S when it's creepy, and that's you being creepy, not Facebook.

But hey, maybe debuting the creepiness this weekend is all in the spirit of Halloween. Haha.

The reasons I should stay

The first season of NBC's Community was so fantastic. The lines were great, the episode plots were entertaining.
But when AnniexJeff happened at the end of the season 1 finale, I saw potential for a downhill fall for the next season because that twist ending was just too... Gossip Girl-dramatic, and Community is no Gossip Girl and shouldn't be.

Fortunately, season 2 didn't take that wrong turn, yet I feel like the recent episodes have lost the fresh sensation they had in season 1. I'm still laughing, but the episodes are getting a bit ridiculous. Yesterday's Halloween episode (mini spoiler alert), I have to admit, I was actually screaming for Troy to save everyone and wailing when Abed sacrificed himself, so it did a good job in engaging me, but I'm easily engageable, so that's not saying anything. But really? Everyone turning into zombies?? And then the army pulling a Men-In-Black and getting rid of everyone's memories of it? Cute development of the Troy/Abed friendship, but I didn't feel like it was on par with Community standards. I feel as if Dan Harmon ran out of good episode ideas, so he's just using any crazy idea he can come up with, no matter how deep in his ass it is.

Still love Community, but I don't want it to already lose its luster in season 2.
